3medium cooking apples cored and sliced into ¼" thick wedges
2tablespoonslight brown sugar
1teaspoonground cinnamon
¼teaspoonground nutmeg
1tablespoonfresh lemon juice
Instructions
Season pork chops on both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
3 bone-in pork chops, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon black pepper, ½ teaspoon garlic powder
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Add pork chops and cook for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature 145°F). Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. You can give the skillet a quick wipe, if you prefer, but there's no need to wash it.
2 tablespoons salted butter
Add apple slices, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir gently to coat apples.
3 medium cooking apples , 2 tablespoons light brown sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender but still hold their shape.
Stir in lemon juice.
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Return pork chops to the skillet, nestling them among the apple slices.
Simmer for an additional 1-2 minutes to reheat the pork chops.
Serve pork chops with the apple slices spooned over top.
Notes
Pork Chops: You can use boneless pork chops instead. Boneless pork chops should cook faster, so adjust the cooking time accordingly.
Salt: Feel free to adjust the salt to your liking. Sea salt also works well and cuts down on the sodium and saltiness of the dish.
Apples: I recommend baking apples like Honeycrisp, Braeburn, or Granny Smith as they hold their shape during cooking and provide a nice balance of sweetness and tartness.
Brown Sugar: You can also use honey or maple syrup as a sweetener. Honey and maple syrup are sweeter, so adjust the amounts according to your tastes.
