Instructions
In a medium pot over medium-high heat, stir together cider and juice.
Add ground cinnamon, allspice, and ground cloves; whisk until combined.
Add cinnamon sticks, star anise, and orange and apple slices.
Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce temperature to medium-low and allow to simmer for 45 minutes.
Before serving, remove cinnamon sticks and star anise with a slotted spoon.
Serve or transfer to a crock pot to keep warm.
Notes
Apple cider:
I like to use fresh, refrigerated apple cider when it's available. You could also use shelf-stable cider.
Spices:
Feel free to vary the spices according to your tastes.
Apple:
I like to use a cooking apple so that it holds together better.
