Ingredients

15.25 ounce box white cake mix
Ingredients needed to make cake like eggs, water, and vegetable oil
1 cup boiling water
3 ounce package strawberry gelatin
8 ounce container frozen whipped topping thawed or homemade whipped cream
Fresh strawberries for garnish

Instructions

Make cake in a 9x13 inch baking pan, according to the instructions on the back of the box.

After baking and while cake is still warm, use a thick skewer or back of a wooden spoon to poke holes in the top of the cake.
Allow cake to cool completely. Remove cake from the pan and place on a large serving platter.
Whisk boiling water and gelatin together until fully dissolved. Pour over the top of the cake.
3 ounce package strawberry gelatin, 1 cup boiling water
Place cake in the fridge to set for at least 1 hour.
Spread thawed whipped topping over top of the cake. Decorate with fresh strawberries.

Notes

White cake mix: Feel free to use a different flavor of cake mix, like yellow cake mix or strawberry cake mix. You can also make your white cake from scratch if you prefer.

Gelatin: You can use any flavor of gelatin that you like in this recipe.

Whipped topping: You can use frozen whipped topping, like Cool Whip or TruWhip, or you can make homemade whipped cream if you plan to serve the cake shortly after topping it.
