- Sausage: I like to use seasoned breakfast sausage in this recipe. You could also use another flavor of breakfast sausage, like maple, if you want sweet and savory casserole.
- Milk: I recommend whole milk for richer gravy; however, you can use skim, 1%, or 2% milk if you prefer.
- Heavy cream: If you want lighter gravy, use half-and-half or additional milk. If you use all milk in the recipe, you may want to slightly increase the amount of flour as your gravy will be thinner with all milk.
- Biscuits: You can use any refrigerated biscuits you like, or you can make your own easy homemade drop biscuits.
How to make biscuits and gravy casserole

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish. Set aside.

Step 2: In a large skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
Step 3: Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute.

Step 4: Gradually add milk and heavy cream, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
Step 5: Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Simmer the gravy for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until thickened.

Step 6: Pour the sausage gravy into the prepared baking dish.
Step 7: Separate the biscuits and arrange them in a single layer on top of the gravy.
