Best Halloween snack mix recipe! This blend of Chex, cheerios, nuts, and candy makes an easy Halloween snack, treat, or dessert!
This Halloween snack mix is perfect for when you want to have a fun holiday treat but don’t feel like going crazy decorating.
It’s a yummy, sweet and salty snack mix that tastes like caramel corn meets toffee Chex mix with some candy thrown in for a little extra goodness. Check out the step-by-step photos to see how to make it, and there are tips below with substitution and customization ideas.
How to make Halloween snack mix
Step 1: In a large bowl, stir together popcorn, Cheerios, Chex, and peanuts. Pour into prepared pan.
Step 2: In a large saucepan, stir together brown sugar, corn syrup, and butter. Heat over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring regularly.
Step 3: Remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla and baking soda until well-combined.
Step 4: Pour the caramel mixture over the popcorn mixture. Bake for 15 minutes. Stir.
Step 5: Continue baking for an additional 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Let cool completely.
Step 6: Add candy mix before serving.
Tips
- Cereal: Feel free to adjust the amount of cereal to your liking (i.e. 3 cups of Chex and 1 cup of Cheerios).
- Peanuts: You can use an additional cup of cereal in place of the peanuts. Or you can substitute 1 cup of pretzels for the peanuts.
- Candy: Autumn candy mix is a mix of candy corns and candy pumpkins. You can use a mix of all candy corn or all pumpkins if you prefer.
Storage
This snack mix can be stored at room temperature in a resealable container for up to 5 days. Since I live in a humid area, I have to leave a corner of the container open so that it doesn’t get so soft as it sits.
