Oreo Rice Krispies Treats are gooey marshmallow treats that are stuffed with Oreo cookie pieces! These simple, no bake treats take just 15 minutes to make.
Oreo Rice Krispies Treats are an easy, no-bake dessert. This quick recipe takes just 15 minutes from start to finish.
This recipe is a variation on my classic rice krispie treat recipe, and the treats are popular with kids and adults alike. The treats make a quick dessert and are perfect for everything from potlucks to lunchboxes.
Ingredients
Oreo Rice Krispie treats are made with just four simple ingredients:
- Rice Krispies cereal: Or a similar puffed rice cereal.
- Salted butter: I like to use salted butter because the little bit of salt in the butter helps to balance out all of the sweetness.
- Mini marshmallows
- Oreo cookies: I use regular Oreos in the treats. However, you can use any flavor of Oreo that you like.
How to make Oreo rice krispies treats
Step 1: Melt the butter in a large saucepan over low heat.
Step 2: Stir 12 ounces of marshmallows into the melted butter. Cook over low heat just until melted, while stirring frequently. Remove from heat.
Step 3: Add the cereal and remaining 8 ounces of marshmallows, and stir until combined.Â
Step 4: Fold in chopped Oreos until combined.Â
Step 5: Pour into a parchment-lined or greased 9×13 inch pan and gently press into an even layer.Â
Step 6: Let the Rice Krispies cool to room temperature before cutting and serving.
Tips
- Don’t overcook the marshmallow mixture! Let the marshmallow mixture cook just until melted. Then remove from heat.
- Even it out! If the cereal mixture is sticking to your hands, either lightly mist your hands with nonstick cooking spray or use a rubber spatula to press the cereal mixture into the pan.
- Add more Oreos! Feel free to press additional broken Oreos into the top of the treats.
Storage
The rice krispies treats should be stored, covered, at room temperature. They will keep for 2-3 days when properly stored.
