    Recipe FAQs

Why do I chill the Jello mixture before adding it to the pie crust?

Letting the gelatin mixture set up some before adding it to the pie crust helps to keep the pie crust from getting soggy.

What if I have extra pie filling?

That's ok! Depending on the depth of your pie plate, you may have a bit of extra filling. If you do, you can pour it into cups and chill it in the fridge.

Can I use homemade whipped cream instead of Cool Whip on top of the pie?

You can! Homemade whipped cream works well to garnish the pie.

Can I make the pie ahead of time?

Yes, you can make the pie a day or so ahead of time. Wait to garnish with whipped cream and strawberries until just before serving.

    Storage

Any leftover pie should be stored in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to 4 days when properly stored in the fridge.

Did you know you can also make this with ice cream? Just stir frozen ice cream in instead of cool whip and follow the remaining steps. Either way it’s a great easy recipe!
