Bread machine honey oat bread is soft, moist, and lightly sweet thanks to oats and a touch of honey. It slices beautifully, uses just 8 simple ingredients, and is an easy everyday loaf you’ll make again and again.

This Bread Machine Honey Oat Bread is one of my favorite “everyday” homemade breads. It’s made with just eight simple ingredients, and the bread machine handles all the heavy lifting — mixing, kneading, and rising — so you get a soft, tender loaf with minimal effort.
The oats give the bread a bit of heartiness, while the honey adds a light sweetness that makes this loaf perfect for sandwiches, toast, or snacking. It slices beautifully, stays soft for days, and is a fantastic recipe to keep in your regular rotation.

Ingredient notes and substitutions
- Milk: I use the milk that I have at the time, which is usually 2%. You could also use dairy-free milk like almond milk.
- Oil: I use olive oil when I make this bread, but a similar neutral oil will also work.
- Flour: To properly measure the flour, weigh it or sift/stir to break it up, lightly spoon into a measuring cup, and level. This will avoid packing the flour.
How to make bread machine honey oat bread
Here you’ll find instructions and step-by-step photos showing how to make this recipe. The full recipe, including ingredients, is given below. For more tips, check out my bread machine baking guide.

Step 1: Add the ingredients in the order given by your bread machine’s instructions. This will usually be wet ingredients, then dry ingredients with the yeast in a small central well in the flour.
Step 2: Press the basic cycle and adjust the crust color to the lightest setting. If you don’t have a basic setting, you can use the white bread setting.
Step 3: Once the bread has finished baking, remove from the pan and let it cool before cutting and serving.

Recipe Tips!
- Bread machine model: I have four different bread machines that I use to test my recipes. I have an older Cuisinart as well as the newer Cuisinart model. I also have the KBS, and a Hamilton Beach.
- Slicing: This bread slices well. I regularly make this bread to use for making sandwiches, but it also works well for toast.
- Serving suggestions: Besides sandwiches and toast, this bread goes well with everything from soups to hearty mains.

Storage
Store any leftover honey oat bread in an airtight container at room temperature. The bread will keep for up to 3 days when properly stored.
