Add the pecans to a skillet over medium-low heat.

Cook, stirring occasionally, until the pecans are lightly browned and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from the skillet from the heat, and let the pecans cool in the pan.

    Use as desired.

A pile of chopped pecans on a piece of brown parchment paper.

    Uses

Toasting the pecans helps to bump up the nuttiness. Here are some ideas to use toasted pecans:

    • As a topping to add a bit of crunch on dishes like ice cream, oatmeal, grape salad, or even candied sweet potatoes.
    • In cookies or brownies to add a bit of nuttiness.
    • Swap out the regular nuts in sticky buns, caramel rolls, or maple sticky buns to add richer flavor.

    Storage

The toasted pecans will keep for up to 1 week when stored in an airtight container at room temperature.
