This easy grape salad recipe combines fresh grapes, a sweet cream cheese mixture, and crunchy pecans in one delicious creamy fruit salad that's always a crowd pleaser!

Grape salad in a shallow dish topped with chopped pecans.

This Grape Salad recipe is made with just seven simple ingredients. It consists of fresh grapes, a cheesecake-like dressing, and a brown sugar/crunchy pecan topping.

It's also a great recipe to use the fresh red grapes or green grapes when they come into season and are plentiful in the grocery store.

Since you can make this creamy grape salad recipe ahead of time (notes below), it's an easy side dish or dessert for barbecues, potlucks, cookouts, and more. And it's always a huge hit!

    Ingredients and substitutions

Ingredients for grape salad on plates and in bowls.
    • Grapes: Feel free to use seedless red grapes or seedless green grapes or a combination of the two.
    • Greek yogurt: You can use 0%, 2% or full-fat plain Greek yogurt. Sour cream (full-fat sour cream or lite sour cream) can also be used. I don't recommend using fat-free sour cream.
    • Cream cheese: Full-fat, reduced-fat, or Greek yogurt-style cream cheese will work. I don't recommend using fat-free.
    • Granulated sugar (white sugar)
    • Vanilla extract
    • Brown sugar: Light or dark brown sugar will work.
    • Pecans: Pecans can be omitted.

    How to make grape salad

Step 1: Wash grapes, and set aside.

Cream cheese mixture topped with vanilla extract.

Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, stir yogurt, cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract together. You can use a hand mixer or just mix by hand.

Tip >> It's important that the cream cheese be at room temperature so that everything will mix together properly.

Step 3: Fold the grapes into the cream cheese mixture.

Step 4: Top the grape mixture with a sprinkling of brown sugar and pecans.

Serve immediately, or cover and chill until ready to use.

Can you make grape salad ahead of time?

You can! I think that it's best served chilled, so I make the salad either the day before or the morning that I plan to serve it.

If you're making this salad ahead of time, you'll want to use crisp grapes. Also, wait until just before serving it to add the brown sugar and the pecans. Otherwise, the pecans can lose their crunch.

    Making this salad for kids

Grapes are a potential choking hazard for small kids. I highly recommend cutting the whole grapes into halves or quarters if serving to younger kids.

    Storage

This creamy grape salad should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. It will keep for up to 4 days when properly stored.

This sounds perfect for summer! I could see adding a few different types of fruit to this; such as a watermelon grape salad. I'll definitely have to try this out!

This looks and sounds so good! I feel incredibly silly to ask, but would this normally be eaten as a side dish or dessert? I've never seen anything like it here in the UK. I'm intrigued!

Thanks! It's not silly. It's normally a side, but, since it's sweet, we usually eat it for dessert. If you have any other questions, please let me know! =)
