Peanut butter cheerio bars are an easy, 3-ingredient recipe. This quick, no-bake recipe makes a great lunchbox treat or after-school snack!
This recipe is really similar to my peanut butter cornflake cookie recipe. This recipe is just made with a different type of cereal, and it’s made in bars instead of cookies.
This recipe is every bit as delicious and may be even easier! The bars take just a few minutes of prep, and there’s no baking required.
The peanut butter cheerio bars keep well in the refrigerator, which makes them a great make-ahead treat that’s perfect as an after school snack or lunch box treat.
How to make peanut butter cheerio bars
Step 1: Line an 8×8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper or grease. Set aside.
Step 2: Add the peanut butter and honey to a large, microwave-safe bowl.
Step 3: Microwave for 30 seconds, and stir. If the peanut butter and honey are not warm (not hot) and easy to stir, continue microwaving and stirring in 15 second intervals until warmed.
Step 4: Add the cereal, and using a rubber spatula, toss to coat the cereal in the peanut butter mixture.
Step 5: Pour the cereal mixture into the prepared pan, and spread into an even layer.
Step 6: Place a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper over the top of the cereal, and press it firmly into the pan. Pressing the cereal mixture firmly in the pan will help it stay together.
Step 7: Remove the plastic wrap or parchment paper from the surface of the cereal mixture.
Step 8: Place the pan into the freeze, and freeze for 30 minutes.
Step 9: Remove from the freezer, and cut into bars.
Step 10: Store the cereal bars in the fridge.
Recipe Tips!
This recipe is really flexible! Here are some ideas for variations:
- Cereal: You can use a different flavor of cereal, like chocolate Cheerios or peanut butter Cheerios.
- Peanut butter: I use regular creamy peanut butter. You could try using other types of nut butter or even sun butter in the bars.
- Honey: I like using honey, but a similar sweetener, like agave, could be used.
- Toppings: To dress the up the bars, you could melt chocolate chips or white chocolate chips, and drizzle melted chocolate over the top before freezing.
- Doubling: You can double this recipe using a 9×13-inch pan.
Storage
Store any leftover cheerio bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The bars will keep for up to 5 days when properly stored in the fridge.

Thanks!

Even after pressing the bars firmly before freezing, they still tend to fall apart a bit when slicing. I think I would do equal parts honey and peanut butter to make them stick together better. They are very tasty, though!
