Strawberry fluff is a 5-ingredient, no bake dessert made without pineapple. Strawberry fluff is a great make-ahead dessert for barbecues and cook outs.
Strawberry fluff is a simple, 5-ingredient dessert. This simple fluff is made without pineapple so that the strawberry flavor can shine through.
Since it’s a no bake dessert, it’s a great choice for whipping up in the hot summer months, and it only takes about 10 minutes of prep to make.
Give it a try, and you may find your new favorite summer dessert or dessert salad!
Ingredient notes and substitutions
- Strawberry Jell-o powder: For the fluff, you’ll just use the dry powder, not make the Jell-o.
- Greek yogurt: I use plain, nonfat Greek yogurt to add a bit of protein to the fluff. Sour cream will also work in place of the Greek yogurt.
- Nondairy whipped topping: Cool Whip or Truwhip work well. You can also use a similar brand of frozen nondairy whipped topping.
- Strawberries: I’ve only used fresh strawberries in this recipe. I haven’t tried using frozen strawberries.
How to make strawberry fluff
Here you’ll find step-by-step photos showing how to make this recipe. The full recipe, including instructions, is given below.
Step 1: Add the strawberry powder and Greek yogurt to a large mixing bowl, and stir to combine.
Step 2: Fold in the nondairy whipped topping just until combined.
Step 3: Add the mini marshmallows and fold in.
Step 4: Fold in the diced strawberries, reserving a few for topping if desired.
Step 5: Cover and chill until ready to serve.
Recipe Tips!
- Mixing: I highly recommend mixing the fluff up with a rubber spatula. An electric mixer would deflate the nondairy whipped topping.
- Make ahead: This fluff is perfect for times when you need to make a dessert ahead of time. The marshmallows and gelatin powder both have a chance to break down a bit and the ingredients meld as they sit. I don’t recommend making it more than about 24 hours in advance because the strawberries soften as they sit.
Storage
Store any leftover strawberry fluff in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to 4 days when properly stored in the fridge. However, you may find that the strawberries begin to break down as the fluff sits.
