- Pizza sauce: You can use any type of pizza sauce that you prefer, or you can make homemade pizza sauce in about 20 minutes.

How to make cast iron skillet pizza

Step 1: Adjust the oven rack to the middle position, and preheat the oven to 500F.

Step 2: Grease a 12-inch cast iron skillet with the olive oil.
Step 3: Roll out the dough into a 12-inch circle on a lightly floured surface.

Step 4: Transfer the dough to the prepared skillet and press into the bottom and slightly up the sides of the skillet.
Step 5: Spread the sauce onto the bottom of the dough leaving an inch border without sauce.

Step 6: Sprinkle most of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
Step 7: Arrange the pepperoni slices over the cheese, and sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.
Step 8: For crispier crust, place the skillet on the stove, and cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Transfer the skillet to the oven, and bake for about 6-10 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the crust has turned golden brown.
Step 9: For softer crust, bake for about 6-10 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the crust has turned golden brown. Carefully remove the skillet from the oven, and let the pizza cool for 5-10 minutes.
Step 10: Remove to a cutting board, and slice to serve.

- Variations: You can use this recipe as a base to make all sorts of flavors of pizza. We like to use barbecue sauce, leftover slow cooker bbq chicken, and a combination of cheddar and mozzarella cheese to make barbecue chicken pizza.
- Skillet: If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, be sure that your oven-safe skillet can withstand high heat.

Storage
Store any leftover pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The pizza will keep for up to 3 days when properly stored in the fridge.
