This Slow Cooker BBQ Beef Brisket is the easiest way to make tender, flavorful brisket. It takes just 5 ingredients and 5 minutes of prep – perfect for busy days when you want a no-fuss dinner that still tastes like you spent all day in the kitchen.

Summer is the perfect time to break out your slow cooker! So often, the slow cooker is a winter dinner staple, but it’s a great way to make easy dinner without heating up your kitchen.
One of my favorite ways to use the crock pot in the summer is to make barbecue meats. With just 5 simple ingredients and 5 minutes of hands-on time, this slow cooker BBQ beef brisket practically makes itself.
The brisket turns out incredibly tender and juicy, with that sweet, smoky BBQ flavor that makes it a hit for weeknight dinners, potlucks, or game day sandwiches.
Ingredient notes and substitutions
- Seasoning: The seasoning will give you much of the flavor in the recipe. Feel free to use more than 1/4 cup to really coat the brisket.
- Barbecue sauce: I like Kansas City style barbecue sauce in this recipe. The barbecue sauce will add a lot of the flavor, so choose a sauce that you like.
How to make slow cooker bbq brisket
Here you’ll find instructions and step-by-step photos showing how to make this recipe. The full recipe, including ingredients, is given below.
Step 1: Place beef in a large slow cooker. I use a 5 quart.

Step 2: Rub brisket with liquid smoke and seasoning.
Step 3: Pour broth around the brisket. Be sure to pour it around, not over, so you don’t wash the seasoning off.
Step 4: Cover, and cook on low for 8 hours, or until tender. Remove brisket from the slow cooker.
Step 5: Stir together 1 cup beef juices from slow cooker and barbecue sauce. Discard remaining juices. This will help to prevent watery sauce.
Step 6: Return brisket to the slow cooker, and pour sauce mixture over the top. Cover, and cook on high for 30 minutes.
Step 7: Thinly slice beef across the grain, shred, or chop. I like to serve the meat with a little bit of extra sauce on top.

Recipe Tips!
- Smoke flavoring: If you’d like to add more smoked flavor to the brisket, I recommend using the liquid smoke.
- Broth: Pouring the broth around the brisket will avoid washing off the seasoning.
- Slicing: Slicing the meat against the grain will give you the most tender brisket.
- Serving: I like to serve the brisket with barbecue sides like biscuits or cornbread muffins, macaroni salad, fruit salad, or Mexican street corn salad.

Storage
Store any leftover brisket in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to 4 days when properly stored.
